Silencio Launches in U.S. and LATAM Markets
Close your eyes and think about one film that you know will be released soon. Now think about the work it takes to launch a film! Not sure? Around 750 films are released nationally every year, but only a few grab your audiences’ attention and draw them to the magic of the theater.
And we’re the magic that starts before anyone can yell action! For our independent film Silencio we wanted to share a regional Mexican folklore with the world.
Lorena Villarreal, the independent director and writer of Silencio, grew up near the “Bermuda Triangle of Mexico.” A mysterious area in Mexico known as the Zone of Silence that has true events of the eerie.
Located on the same parallel line of the Bermuda Triangle and the Pyramids of Giza, it has several events of the unexplainable including rocket crashes, mutations in plants and animals, meteorite strikes and much more.
Silencio shares the story of Ana, (Melina Matthews) who struggles to save her son’s life. She must find a powerful stone her grandfather (John Noble) originally discovered with his apprentice (Rupert Graves) in the Zone of Silence in 1970. Throughout her desperate search, Ana stumbles upon long lost family secrets and discovers enemies who believe the stone’s power is worth killing for.
Written, directed and produced by Lorena Villarreal, Denisse Chapa (producer) and filmed in Zone of Silence and northern Mexico locations, the film brings to life the local tales of strange occurrences that have been happening for decades.
“In addition to the wonderful writing and tale of Silencio, I was also excited to work with Lorena as the director. We are simply lacking women directors in our industry,” said John Noble who also became a fan of the Zone of Silence. “So many of the people involved were locals, so we had a great sense of the people and why the area has become such a mystery.”
Our time with the actors were extremely limited, so we maximized their time by offering exclusives to national publications. We targeted television, radio, outdoor and online, while highlighting a rare 100-percent woman-owned studio. Some media include: Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Newsweek, Screen Rant and more.
On social media, we engaged soon to be movie watchers with tales of their own weird occurrences and experiences, it created authentic chatter and curiosity.
