The Dallas Mavericks and McDonald's are proud to host African American Heritage Night and After Party every year. This event is a celebration of the rich history and culture of the African American community, as well as a fundraiser for two important organizations that support the education and empowerment of African Americans. By coming together to celebrate and support these causes, we can create a more just and equitable society for all.

The Dallas Mavericks and McDonald's have been partnering to host African American Heritage Night and After Party since 2011. This annual event is a fundraiser for the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) and the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC). It is a night of celebration, remembrance, and education for the African American community and their allies.

What is African American Heritage Night?

African American Heritage Night is an annual event hosted by the Dallas Mavericks and McDonald's. It is an evening of celebration and education that honors the contributions of African Americans to the history and culture of the United States. The event features a number of activities, including guest speakers, live music performances, and a silent auction that raises funds for UNCF and NPHC.

The Importance of UNCF and NPHC

UNCF and NPHC are two organizations that are dedicated to supporting the education and empowerment of African Americans. UNCF provides financial support to historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and helps to prepare students for leadership roles in their communities. NPHC is a collective of nine historically black fraternities and sororities that work to promote civic engagement, academic excellence, and community service.

his event has grown from 300 in 2011 to 900 in 2018. It’s one of the highest attended games of the year.  Our goal was to create something that would engage the HBCU alumni of Dallas and build anticipation and create a surprise and delight element.

Our client surrounds the Mavs game all night long – including the pre-game (outside food truck), during the game (photo booth and giveaways) and half-time an interactive court game competition.

Over the years after parties included popular DJs, entertainers and athletes. The Black McDonald’s of North Texas has sponsored the event more than six years:

  • Table of McDonald’s branded giveaways

  • Branded recyclable bags for each attendee with a $3 gift card

  • DJ shout outs

  • Posters on Mav’s TV
